The CinePuck: Engineered for Flawless Tracking
The OptiTrack CinePuck family represents the pinnacle of tracking tools for virtual production and broadcast. The Wired CinePuck takes this further, offering an Ethernet-connected solution for extended detection ranges, significantly increased precision, and the elimination of dropped frames often caused by RF interference.
By integrating OptiTrack Active technology with uniquely identifiable pulsed LEDs and fusing high-resolution IMU data with optical tracking, the Wired CinePuck delivers robust, high-quality object tracking essential for today’s dynamic production environments.
Unrivaled Precision
Leverages a high-resolution 32-bit IMU, a significant upgrade from the 16-bit IMU in wireless counterparts, providing smoother and more predictable data for critical tracking accuracy.
Interference-Free Connection
The direct Ethernet connection eliminates RF noise and signal dropouts, ensuring continuous, reliable tracking and preventing costly dropped frames during live productions.
Advanced Optical Tracking
Features 11 configurable LEDs (compared to 8 on wireless) and various diffuser options (flat, 1″, 2″ posts) allowing for larger marker offsets, leading to more stable and robust optical tracking.
Intelligent Sensor Fusion
Motive software expertly fuses the high-grade IMU data with optical information, minimising variations between LED configurations and maximizing overall tracking precision.
Hardware Adaptability
Optimize LED configurations with different diffuser posts (flat, short, long) to suit diverse tracking scenarios and camera setups, ensuring optimal visibility and performance.
Software Configurability
Fine-tune IMU and LED properties directly within OptiTrack’s Motive software, providing granular control for perfect integration into your workflow.
Performance That Speaks Volumes
Comparative testing demonstrates the Wired CinePuck’s clear advantages in data quality and stability.
Superior IMU Data
The Wired CinePuck’s 32-bit IMU provides significantly greater precision and more predictable rotational data compared to the 16-bit wireless version, especially noticeable in stationary and slow-rotation scenarios.
Optimized by Sensor Fusion
While optical performance varies slightly with LED setup, Motive’s sensor fusion leverages the high-quality IMU to minimize these differences, ensuring consistently high precision.
Improved Optical Stability
Configurable LED setups, particularly with diffuser posts (1″ or 2″), offer more stable optical tracking due to larger marker offsets. All Wired configurations show less rotational noise than wireless.
Reliability is Key
The wired connection inherently removes risks of RF interference, crucial for live broadcast and complex virtual production sets.
Ideal for Demanding Productions
The Wired CinePuck is the definitive tracking solution for:
Virtual Production Studios
Achieve seamless integration of live-action footage with virtual environments, thanks to highly accurate and reliable camera tracking.
